CHAPTER FIFTEEN
Teleporting while kissing is a bad idea. Just want to go on record with that.
I thought maybe the good feelings of the kiss would cancel out the nasty, gross disorienting feelings of the teleporting? Not so much.
Logan and I broke apart in the middle of my bedroom, coughing and rasping and feeling sick to our stomachs.
âSorry,â I managed. âShouldnât have done that right then.
âYeah,â he said in a strained voice. âMaybe not.â
It took us a while to get ourselves back together. And then a few more minutes to kill the skitters that had shown up. Then Logan started to go to the door. âIâll come by tomorrow. Weâll talk strategy.â
âItâs late,â I said. âAnd you said your place was packed up. You could stay here.â
Logan eyed my bed, which was a twin. âWeâre not both going to fit on that bed.â
I considered. Reid and Tatum seemed to make it work somehow, but Reid was not nearly the size of Logan. Plus he lacked wings.
Logan came for me and kissed my forehead. âI donât need a bed. Iâm turning to stone. I can stand in a corner.â
âIs that comfortable?â
âItâs all the same to me,â he said.
âYou want to lie on the couch instead? I can get you blankets.â
âSure,â he said, grinning lopsidedly. âIâll take the couch.â
I wrapped my arms around him. âOkay.â I kissed him quickly.
âThanks,â he said. He kissed me again.
âUhm-hmm,â I said, still kissing him.
We kissed for a while.
Eventually, though, I did get some blankets on the couch out there for him, and I left him to sleepâer, turn to stoneâon the couch. I climbed into my bed alone, my lips still tingling. I was glad heâd come back.
I fell asleep almost right away. I really was dead tired.
I awoke in the gray light of dawn to the sound of my door closing. I blinked and rolled over to see that Logan was inside my room. He was the one whoâd closed the door. âYou awake?â he whispered.
âNo,â I said.
He chuckled. âIâm going to head home. I just wanted to say goodbye.â
I made a sound of disapproval. âDonât go.â I pulled aside the covers of my bed and scooted over. âLie down with me.â
âPetra, that bed is way too small.â
âJust try it,â I said, yawning.
He considered, and then he crossed the room and crawled into the bed with me.
I pulled the covers over us.
It was a tight fit. But that just meant I had to get as close to him as I possibly could. His skin was sort of lukewarm, which was strange. I guessed it took him a while to warm up after heâd been stone. Maybe he needed me to help him warm up. I was happy to oblige. I slung a leg over his hips and wriggled in until our torsos were pressed firmly against each other.
He made a noise in the back of his throat. âYouâre warm.â
I sighed. I kissed him.
We lay like that for a while, pressed close, limbs entangled, lips against each other, exploring each otherâs mouths with our tongues.
